Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions? We’ve got answers. Here are some of the most common things homeowners ask about our in-home consultation process, products, and installation.
Is hardwood refinishing completely dust-free?
Professional dust-containment equipment captures dust while the floor is being sanded and significantly reduces the mess associated with traditional sanding. Because refinishing remains a construction process, it is more accurate to describe it as dust-controlled rather than promise that no dust will be present.
Does my floor need refinishing or recoating?
Floors with deep scratches, exposed wood, widespread discoloration, or significant finish failure may require complete refinishing. Recoating may be appropriate when the existing finish is only dull or lightly worn and the wood underneath remains in good condition.
Can refinishing change the color of my hardwood?
In many cases, yes. Once the existing finish has been removed, a new stain can be applied to update the color. The available results depend on the species, age, condition, and previous treatments of the wood.
How long does hardwood refinishing take?
The schedule varies based on the floor’s size and condition, necessary repairs, stain selection, finish system, drying requirements, and indoor conditions. A more accurate timeline can be provided after the in-home evaluation.
